TRAINING PROGRAMS
Training in the National Guard encompasses initial entry training for recruits, ongoing professional development, and specialized training for career advancement.
Recruit Sustainment Training
(RSP)
-
The primary purpose of the RSP is to provide recruits with the necessary knowledge, skills, and conditioning to complete basic training (BCT) and advanced individual training (AIT).

-
RSP aims to ease the transition from civilian to military life, instill discipline, and foster teamwork among recruits.

Basic Combat Training
(BCT)
-
Basic training is the initial entry training for recruits, designed to instill military discipline, physical fitness, and basic combat skills.

-
BCT typically lasts ten weeks and includes instruction in marksmanship, physical conditioning, drill and ceremony, first aid, and basic soldiering tasks.
Advanced Individual Training
(AIT)
-
Advanced individual training follows basic training and provides specialized instruction in a specific military occupational specialty (MOS) or job field.

-
AIT varies in length depending on the MOS and can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

-
AIT focuses on developing the technical skills, knowledge, and proficiency required for a particular job, such as combat engineering, communications, medical support, or logistics.
